AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE

If You Had a Coronary Angiogram or Intervention

Protecting your stent, and the warning signs that mean call 911.

Your blood thinners protect your stent

After a coronary stent, the antiplatelet medicines (often aspirin plus a second blood thinner) are as important as the stent itself. Never stop either one without calling us first — stopping early is the strongest risk for the stent to clot, which can cause a heart attack. Medication compliance

Call 911 right away

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness — especially if it feels like the symptoms that led to your procedure

  • New or worsening shortness of breath

  • Nausea, sweating, or jaw or arm pain
