AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE

If You Had a Loop Recorder

A tiny monitor, minimal restrictions — and how to mark a symptom.

Simple recovery

  • Keep the small (about 1 cm) incision clean and dry for 48 hours; avoid soaking it for a week

  • Resume normal activity right away

  • You may receive antibiotics; sutures are removed in the office in 7 to 10 days

Using the monitor

The device transmits your rhythm automatically. If you feel a symptom — dizziness, palpitations, or fainting — press the patient activator button to mark that moment so we can review exactly what your heart was doing. About the loop recorder

When to call

Call for redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, or opening at the incision, or a fever — possible signs of infection.
